That kind of thing wasn't even an option before I switched to PC. An ancient Japanese-only game that was never officially translated even when they put it out on the Wii eshop (I found a fan-translated version). I was just playing "DoReMi Fantasy" on a snes emulator earlier today. Now, I have access to hundreds of AAA titles, over 1000 smaller/indie titles, on top of everything that's free and emulation for every system earlier than the Wii and PS2. I could waste the $45-55 I spent and go back to playing Little Big Planet or the latest Shooter/Racing-Game, or I could justify my relatively large purchase by playing even if I didn't really like the game. Back in the console days, I paid numerous times more per game, so I often felt I HAD to finish each one to justify it, and along with that I only had a few fresh titles to play with, so it's not like I even had the choice to hop around. And even when that's not the case, there's just SO MANY games that your mind can't help but wonder. Quite a number of titles now have pretty derivative and sometimes even monotonous elements that just have me interested in something else. I seem to often get 50-80% of the way through big games before stopping. I guess Dark Souls 2 did as well in 2014.
